OUR FIRST WINTER IN AUCKLAND

I have to say I am really loving this place! The winter is so mild compared to Wellington. We are half way through August and already looking forward to spring. The winter has been...for lack of better descriptions....varied. I say this after a week of being hot enough inside to wear a singlet top, and yet with a cold snap on it's way over the country in the next few days. (They reckon it's going to snow in the Hutt...brrrrrrr!)
This morning we woke up to a foggy haze, very eerie and pretty.

Although it is very mild.

Did I say I am loving this winter in Auckland?
Note to self: get a HRV in our next house...why not use the warm 25 degree roof air to heat the house?!

Today we spent the day chillaxing with the kids, went to a couple of open homes (yes, real estate agents, we DO have a house to sell, just that it is in Wellington!) , watched a movie (The Last Song with Miley Cyrus, and all even managed to cry) , and experimented making chicken with satay sauce whilst Cameron completed his homework project with the help of Euan from next door...to devise a menu, take orders, and then make dinner for themselves.

The kids then proceeded to go and play outside in the cul de sac, in the dark...a great wee neighbourhood.

While out and about today I spotted a sign...S T O P (no , that wasn't the sign)...I mean "STOP, Todd, back up..." - we found a new business for Cameron!

There are a multitude of businesses in the area...it certainly is a growing community.
I went to my first bookclub last night, at the lovely Sharron's. I now have a pile of reading to do...nothing like reading a good book in the spa or curling up in bed reading...I am off to do just that!
